BEEGS, the doctoral school at Södertörn University, Stockholm, now offers a new opportunity for doctoral study in archaeology. Our intention is to accept two or three candidates for a period of four years.
Because we wish to enhance our maritime archaeological profile, we are especially seeking applications connected to maritime archaeology, but our definition of maritime archaeology is wide. It includes of course nautical archaeology and different aspects of underwater archaeology in the Baltic, but we also would like to encourage applications dealing with prehistoric coast life, economic or cultural exchange across the sea or different symbolic or cognitive questions related to human use of water in a wide sense.
